First Day With Big Jumps and Cork 7

This week was my first week hitting large jumps this year and when I say huge I mean Giant. The jumps were keystones big ling seres of 3 two story high jumps that were the biggest jumps in North America at the time. This is a big accomplishment for me because I want to progress my skiing further and further and giant Professional sized jumps are the next step for me.

Another big accomplishment for me that happened two weeks ago was that I landed a Cork 7 which is an inverted 720. This was a big accomplishment for me because I have been working on this trick for the past summer and season and I finally landed it. Now my goal is to perfect this trick do I can use it in my upcoming competition.

Thanksgiving Break

Over thanksgiving break I went skiing six times and did not learn many "new" tricks but regain all of my old tricks. For three of the days I went skiing at Vail. They do no have jumps so I worked on doing a 270 on to a box and a 450 off of an up rail. I completed the 270 right away but I took about five tries to do the 450 off. Then on the weekend I skied at Winter Park. At Winter Park I came up with three goals in my head and they were a switch five, flat three boot grab, and a 270 on to a feature. Out of all my goals I completed my switch five after a couple flaws, my flat three I completed on my first, and I never 270 on to a feature but I did blind switch-up a down flat down rail. Over all I think I had a great break and I am now ready to try some new tricks.

Keystone Day One

Yesterday, I went up to Keystone for the first time this year. I went up with a few goals in my head and they were to 270 on to a feature and also to transfer some tricks that I did on my Summer Set-Up to snow. I wanted to do a 270 because doing a spin on to a rail is my next step rail wise. I wanted to try and do some tricks I did on my Summer Set-up because the tricks I do on it are the tricks I want to do in competitions. I mostly completed these goals because I 270 on to a down box and also did a K-Fed. I did not complete the blind switch-up blind two though and I am going to work on doing that and a 270 on to a rail next time.
Goals: 270 on, K-fed, Blind Switch-Up Blind Two Out
Complete: 270 on, K-fed

Consulting Log

For this project I have chose to create an on-line consulting log to document consulting. So every time I consult I will be posting a few sentences. I consult with my consultant once a week for 15 minutes.

1st consulting time:
Today, Tony my consultant and I talked about using interesting angles to make my edits more interesting. We also talked about how I should run my camera for about five seconds before and after my shots.

2nd consulting time:
Today, Tony and I talked about ways to zoom and pan with my go pro camera. This is going to help me because zooming and panning will make my videos more interesting. Tony also took a look at my videos and said they look great!

3rd consulting time:
During this consulting time, Tony and I talked about me possibly going to Denver Open Media and learning about video production. I am now considering this for a PLAID day or a resource for exposure of my videos.

4th consulting time:
Today, Tony and I talked about using different angles to make my project more interesting. I also showed Tony my most recent video and he said it was great but needed a few different angles. Now, next weekend I am going to film harder tricks with different angles.

5th consulting time:
This time, Tony and I talked about the amount of footage I have and how much more I need and decided that I will need to film about two more full days. So now my goal is to film two days and get some quality shots

6th consulting time:
Today. Tony I showed Tony a recently made video and he no issues with it we then talked about starting my final video and now I am going to start editing my final video.

Summer set-up

Over the past two weeks I have been working on making a summer set-up which is a ramp that I can ski down and slide a rail without snow. I wanted to create this so I can work on improving my rail skills at home and during summer. I built this by first creating a plan, then creating my ramp, then finally creating a rail and landing. This is going to help my skiing because I can now work on improving my skills every day.

Why my project is on skiing?

In 6th grade I started slopestyle skiing and ever since I started skiing it has been the center of my life. The past two years though I have taken an interest in skiing videography and last year I started taking videos of myself and editing them. So I chose to do my year long project for school on skiing videography and improoving my slopestyle skiing. I am using this blog to help me document all of the skiing related things I do during this project.
